Individual Counseling is structured as if you were meeting with a Guide. This means I meet you right where you are at, constantly encourage you to be open and honest with your concerns and fears, and gently nudge you to be more vulnerable all while helping you confront your fears of shame or humiliation. That is my promise and aim for each client to experience when they come to meet with me. Counseling provides a unique place where clients can feel safe (some times for the first time in their life), talk without fear of being ashamed for what is or has happened to them, and focus on ways they can improve, heal and grow. I understand that we are all going to have moments in our lives where we get stuck or caught in the undertow. But, that is where we also find our greatest drive to push through, break the surface and breathing again the sweet breath of life.

Each client works with me to develop a plan of action that is unique to their goals and expectations. Being a Certified Sexual Addictions Therapist (CSAT-C), I utilize my training from Patrick Carnes and Mark Laaser (premier leaders and researchers on the sexual addiction and recovery) to help my clients address their struggles with the pornography, masturbation, lust, sexual shame and intimacy problems. But, because sexual addictions and compulsive behavioral problems are only masks for much deeper struggles, I also want to help my clients incorporate tools and skills to help ease any anxieties or depression from past relational or experiential harms they may have encountered. Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Skills and Mindfulness, Contemplative practices are also taught to clients to help them have tools they can grow and deepen with in their work.

Clients who have worked best with me using these techniques found they have been struggling with:

  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive or Compulsive Thinking
  • Depression
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Compulsive Sexual problems
  • Other Hidden Addictions
