Intensive Counseling

Whether it is our commitments, jobs, family or just the day-to-day grind that gets in the way, “Life stops for no one.”  People remain hurting and many don’t understand why.  Even as we get good at putting our worries to the side, we are still in need of care, encouragement and healing.

Thrive wants to help bridge that chasm so clients can begin to heal at a deeper level.  Through Intensive Counseling, clients have access to a space that allows them to experience, sometimes for the first time, authentic healing and clarity of their story’s impact in and around their life.  An intensive is not for everyone, but those that participate generally report having a deeper understanding and experience extraordinary insight to their story.

How is Intensive Counseling different from Traditional Counseling?  Nick offers a few things to think about when considering Intensive over Traditional Counseling (50-minute session):

  1. Time Focused – Traditional counseling can be nebulous a lot of times. Each session can take on it’s own form and may not necessarily build from a previous session.  When starting traditional counseling, there is not always a pre-existing end point determined and is often left undefined.  Intensives are much more focused, intentional and have a fixed end-time in mind.
  2. Goal Focused –  Traditional counseling often take several weeks to properly establish clear or even realistic goals.  Nick is constantly working with each client in the Intensive to establish goals prior, during and following the process; beginning with the ending in mind.
  3. Depth Focused – Intensive counseling asks from the beginning, what is going on under the surface?  What are the core issues that each client is addressing?  Traditional counseling may look at some of these things at the deeper level, but has found that it can take some time to reach that point for some clients.

Nick offers half-day (3-hours) or full-day (6-hours) intensive sessions.  Nick wanted to develop intensives because several clients voiced that their normal counseling hour also seem to end too quickly or would state, “We were just getting to something good!”
