Therapy is first about discovering. It’s about who you are and about what your deepest emotional attitudes are. It’s not just about who you think you are. It’s not something you can know with the intellect. It’s about who you are in the very heart of yourself. That’s the flavor of psychotherapy, discovering yourself, discovering your real attitudes toward the most important pieces of your life. At some point you realize that the things that you thought you were stuck with, your character traits, are changeable. You can be free of them… At the end you have consistency and vision. You have resolved many conflicts, in which one part of you wants something and another part is against it. The journey itself becomes a way of life.

Is this where you begin to thrive?

Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the most diligent of us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems.

Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, the stress of work, home and family, or you’re trying to keep the connections alive in your intimate relationship or friendships, you should know there is hope. And hope starts with what you are doing right now…taking the first step to becoming your own hero and asking for help.

You might be hesitant to reach out, to trust someone, but when you do, you can feel confident you are taking a courageous step towards getting to a better place and a healthier you.

Here at Thrive Counseling Group, we realize that no two people are the same. We tailor therapy to meet your specific needs. With in-depth approaches, we help people understand what holds them back from life’s potentials. First, we start by listening and understanding what you need. Then, we want to help address any emotional, mental and/or physical concerns you might have. Once a person genuinely feels heard, a sense of safety and trust can begin to take root. We can discover together the underlying problems and begin to realize how these responses, or even certain behaviors, have become your “answers” to life difficulties. From those “answers” real, substantial healing begins to happen, and you see things in a different, healthier light. You begin to see your True Self beginning to take shape…again.

Our practice specializes in a number of areas of care:

  • family of origin trauma or painful past relationships

  • grief, loss, or changes to your support systems

  • treating hidden or shameful addictions such as alcohol, pornography, intimacy disorders, sexual shame, secret relationships or affairs

  • struggles that have caused, aggravated or even exhausted anxiety, stress, burnout

  • obsessive, compulsive, or impulsive concerns

  • depression

  • relationship and parenting troubles

  • concerns in intimate partnerships, friendships or work-related relationships.

If you are feeling lost, we are confident that the therapists at THRIVE have the experience and compassion, to help you rediscover what brings joy to your life. We invite you to discover your True Self with us. You know, who you were before the world started telling you who they thought you should be!

At Thrive, we can help you get back on track to leading a more joyful and fulfilling life through equipping you with the tools you need to efficiently and confidently manage life’s challenges. It is never too late to start living the life you’ve always wanted.

Vision

The Vision at THRIVE Counseling Group is found in our name and is simple: We want to help you to THRIVE.

To thrive means to grow or develop well, to prosper, to flourish.

So, what exactly does it take for someone to thrive, especially in today’s world? Well, we believe it takes three very important and intentional things to occur:

Healing, Reconnection, and Growth.

The vision for our clients is to meet you wherever you are in your work, “Are you needing to heal? Are their areas of your life that you’re reconnecting with? Do you have a desire to deepen and grow,” and help provide you the space to address these areas with compassion, clarity and gentleness. We’ve found this undoubtedly leads a person to thrive. We see our clients beginning to live out of their most authentic selves and become intentional about what brings them value and life…THRIVING!

The hope for our clients, ‘Is to provide a safe, encouraging space for couples and individuals to share their stories and begin to experience love and trust in new ways that will encourage authentic change.’ Heal. Reconnect. Grow. THRIVE.

FAQ

  • There are a few ways you can set-up an appointment:

    • You can contact our office by calling (615) 852-8281.  If we are unable to take your call, please feel free to leave a confidential voicemail and we will return your call within 48-hours.

    • You can email THRIVE through our practice address – info@thrivecw.org

    • You can contact us through Thrive’s website using any of the Schedule an Appointment buttons on the pages.  During that time, please feel free to ask any questions you may have and we will be sure to get back you within 48-hours.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask. We want to help in any way possible.

  • This is a great question and it lingers in just about everyone’s mind when they consider talking with a therapist.  The fact remains that you have already made incredible strides to take care of yourself and that should not be overlooked.  Anytime someone seeks assistance with mental, emotional or relational care it can be intimidating.  We find that most people are already pretty scared because of what they have probably been telling themselves or even what others may have told them.  We want every client to feel safe and encouraged when they come into our offices, and this is our top priority.

Once you have been contacted by our office, you will be provided a link to your very own “Client Portal”. There you will be asked to read through, sign and complete the forms and questionnaires per your therapist prior to your first visit. Following that, you will be granted access to your therapist’s calendar system to see when he or she has availability. This will help clients better understand the counseling process but also provide us with some additional information to better understand how he can help you.

When you arrive at THRIVE Counseling Group, you will have a seat in the lobby.  There your therapist will greet you at the time of your appointment, ask if you would be interested in coffee, tea or water and will walk you back to their office.  Here, we will invite you to share your story to help us understand why you are seeking assistance at this time and what you’d like to focus of meeting to be centered around.  Together, you will look at what has and has not been working so that you can collaborate ways to address the problem(s).  This first session is primarily used to better understand your history and any contributing factors or goals you have in mind for seeking therapy.  If the conversation goes well, they will establish a future meeting time and address any issues/problems you want to focus on during those meetings.

Please note, here is no “I” in therapy. And, what we mean here is that we want to work as a team with you our clients to accomplish each of your goals.  Thrive encourages all their clients to be realistic and patient with the process.  Therapy is rarely a quick fix, but the process, wisdom and growth gained from your time together is fertile soil for building a trusting relationship with your therapist.

We looks forward to meeting you soon!

  • The difference is quite striking and even scary for some. A friend or family member will often provide advice or direction based off their experiences or intuition.  The relationship is intended to flow two ways.  But, a professional counselor is someone who has been trained to expressly trusts that the client “knows where they need go”. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation(s) in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing your business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life. Let friends and family members return to cheering you on rather than trying to cheer you up.

  • Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approaches to your specific needs. Think of the counseling office as a micro-cosim to the world you would like to have, try and experiencing new things in real time, gain real understanding along with positive feedback from conversations, and devel deep into areas that would otherwise be scary without feeling along because your therapist is walking along side you.
